My Girlfriend’s Closet, a mainstay boutique in the St. Croix women’s retail fashion scene for more than a decade, and on St. Thomas for close to three years, as of Aug. 1, has officially transitioned from brick-and-mortar storefronts to a global wellness and lifestyle movement geared toward connecting women all over the world and helping them to heal.

In an upbeat message to their “girlfriends” titled, “We’re Not Just Evolving—We’re Emancipating” posted on the Girlfriendism Lifestyle Facebook page on July 3, Dr. K, founder and SHE-EO of My Girlfriend’s Closet and Girlfriendism International, along with Jovani Peter, co-owner and Girlfriendism Global founding member, announced the new direction planned for the organization:

Dear Girlfriends,

This transition has been years in the making. Quietly. Intentionally. Powerfully.

What started with a Girlfriendism post during COVID, continued with our first retreat, grew into international experiences, and finally unfolded into a deeper vision for healing, connection, entrepreneurship, and liberation.

Today, on Virgin Islands Emancipation Day, we’re saying it out loud:

We are officially transitioning from the storefront to the global stage.

My Girlfriend’s Closet is evolving into Girlfriendism International—a global lifestyle movement for women rooted in wellness, connection, sisterhood, and freedom.

In the post, the businesswomen highlighted the many accomplishments garnered under the My Girlfriend’s Closet brand, including paying out “over six figures in earnings to creatives and entrepreneurs”; supporting “100+ vendors in growing their audiences, reaching new markets, and increasing revenue”; “representing the culture and spirit of the Virgin Islands to over 1 million+ visitors,” and raising “$10K+ for breast cancer and domestic violence causes,” among other community-focused accolades.

The announcement continued:

This isn’t just a list of accomplishments. This is a living archive of what happens when women trust each other, support each other, and create something sacred together.

We didn’t just run a store.

We built a movement.

And now, it’s going global.

Goodbye V.I. Boutique, Hello Girlfriendism GLOBAL!

As part of its expanded global focus, interested persons can now purchase one of three membership levels, as well as shop, register for local and international retreats, support philanthropic survivor causes, and more through the Girlfriendism website.

The announcement concluded with an open invitation for others to join the Girlfriendism movement:

This is your invitation to keep growing—with us.

We are no longer bound by walls.

We are no longer waiting for permission.

We are creating sacred space across the globe—with each other, for each other.

From My Girlfriend’s Closet to Girlfriendism International

This is not just a rebrand—it’s a revolution.

This is what modern-day Emancipation looks like.

Let’s keep building, healing, and rising—together.
