BEAUTIFUL BUTTER YELLOW

Butter Yellow is the color of sunshine — the perfect color trend for Caribbean women to get into.

In this as-told-to-DBOW, first-person analysis of Butter Yellow, legendary St. Croix fashion expert Cyndee Ible-Frontal unpacks the popular summer 2025 color trend. Her comments have been slightly edited for length and clarity.

Butter yellow is fast becoming popular in our closets, and we are loving the look of this soft, neutral color that can be paired with almost any other color but still has a personality all its own.

I love to pair my butter-yellow casual top to matching butter-yellow stretchy shorts for a monochromatic look. Or sometimes, I have even paired my butter-yellow top with dark denim jeans—it's the color of the season, y’all!

We have been wearing beige, cream and white a lot, so bring in the middleman in the form of butter yellow, which not only eliminates the need for basic colors, but it also adds to your personality if you are soft-spoken, as it has a voice that speaks for itself.

The color is soft, yet not too soft. It still has a hint of brightness to lift your spirits. It’s not too loud; it's just right, that's why it's a neutral.

Because we are in the tropics and it is usually hot, butter yellow has a hint of spring and summer, wherein it reflects heat and gives you the look of fresh and breezy.  Shopping locally can open up many doors to this trending color in a variety of styles and patterns. I found myself, however, shopping online from a local lady who showcases her clothes on a LIVE video platform each week and that's where I was introduced to this color that quietly found its place in my wardrobe.

I am not excluding the local stores one bit, however! As a matter of fact, while window shopping various stores on-island, I've noticed that butter yellow has already been introduced and is flourishing in the shops and on the many ladies whom I have noticed in church, at local events, and even on social media.

As a jewelry consultant and part-time salesperson, I have been working on introducing butter yellow to my shoppers in the form of necklaces, earrings, and rings to complete their looks and elevate their wardrobes.

Pair your butter-yellow sundress with a long, dangling butter-yellow floral earring, slightly touching your shoulder with a matching ring—no need for a necklace—and grab that embroidered bag with a hint of butter-yellow flowers and make a statement when you step out with your girls. Wear this look for a day at the nail salon to get your nails did!

Let's continue to mix it up, shop owners. Blend in the neutrals with the vibrant colors and give your shoppers a variety of choices when they’re looking for that perfect dress or pant set. Don’t be afraid to step outside the box and seek out more neutrals by starting with butter yellow!
