9 VALENTINE’S GIFTS A WAPA MAN WILL LOVE
The Virgin Islands Water & Power Authority (WAPA) employs a large portion of the territory’s workforce. This means that many husbands, fathers, and significant others pay the household bills from their jobs as linemen, engineers, electricians, and other roles at WAPA.
With Valentine’s Day falling on a Saturday this year, it’s the perfect time to reconnect with your hardworking man away from the high stress and high stakes of his job at WAPA. Why not treat him to one (or all) of these gift ideas. Gift him a memorable local experience or that special item he’s always wanted, and we bet he’ll cherish it, and you, forever!
Which of these will your WAPA man love the most?
1. Tickets to A Local Concert
Treat your WAPA beau to tickets for the upcoming Lover’s Rock concert at Muse on Feb. 14 on St. Thomas, featuring Luciano. And on St. Croix, if your guy is a big Jamband and VIO fan, getting him tickets to the Bring Back Deh Old Tyme Jam on Feb. 14 at the Queen Mary & Paradise Cultural Village is a must! It will be an unforgettable night out as you whine and dine the night away. Find details for these concerts and more on our 2026 Events Guide.
2. Couples’ Massage & Dinner at seafront Restaurant
Keeping the Territory’s lights on and its water running can be stressful work. Treat your man to a relaxing, stress-free Valentine’s Day with a couples massage at Pampered V.I. on St. Croix or Prana Spa on St. Thomas. Plus, plan ahead and make dinner reservations at a gorgeous seaside restaurant. Places like The Fred, Carambola or The Galleon on St. Croix fit the bill; on St. Thomas, Margaritaville, Bluebeard’s Castle, or St. Thomas Social are great options that will relax and revive him; and on St. John, visit the Lime Inn in Cruz Bay or ZoZo’s at Caneel Bay.
3. Staycation
Enjoy Valentine’s Day weekend as a tourist on your own island! Get auntie to babysit the kids, book a room at a hotel downtown (or out east end or west), and have his and your bags packed and ready to go. Swing by the WAPA office at 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13 and whisk him off to your chosen hotel for the entire weekend. Visit local landmarks, watch the sunrise at Point Udall, spend a day at Coki Point Beach or Cramer’s Park, grab ice cream or a smoothie and stroll around Cruz Bay. Enjoy the island, and each other, all weekend long!
4. Island Tour & Picnic Lunch
This can work one of two ways: You can take him on a leisurely drive from one end of the island to the next yourself or book an island tour with a professional. If he’s the adventurous type, check out Jammin Jeep Tours on St. Croix and St. Thomas. If he’s more laidback, hop on a safari in downtown Cruz Bay for a scenic tour of St. John. After the tour, enjoy the picnic lunch you packed and reminisce about the best parts of the day.
5. (Mini) Shopping Spree
There are some men who love to shop and many of you ladies have them in your life! You don’t have to break the bank for this one—just set yourself a spending limit, select one or two of his favorite stores on-island (or online), and take him shopping. Clothing, jewelry, cologne, electronics—a shopping WAPA man will love you for this!
6. Breakfast In Bed, Dinner At The Beach
He’s up and out the door early for work, so let him sleep in this Valentine’s Day while you (and the kids) prepare his favorite breakfast spread that’s fit for a VI king! Later, prepare his favorite dinner at home, pack it up and head out to any of the beaches on the westside. Spread a blanket on the sand, turn on his favorite tunes on the car radio and dig in! Stay to watch the spectacular sunset over the Frederiksted pier for an extra-romantic way to close out the day.
7. Day or Weekend Trip to Sister USVI Island
Since Agrifest 2026 falls on Valentine’s Day weekend this year, it’s a great time for St. Thomas/St. John ladies to treat their men to a trip to St. Croix! Start making those travel arrangements now—check schedules for local ferries, flights and hotels. St. Croix ladies, choose an event on St. Thomas from our 2026 Events Guide that your man will enjoy and make plans for you and him to be there. There’s nothing quite like a trip to your sister island just for fun!
8. A Day of Self-Care
More and more local men are getting into self-care—not just at the gym, but many are taking the time for regular care of their hands and feet by professionals. Start his day off with a shapeup at the barber shop or get his locs or braids redone. Then, head over to the nail salon and treat him to a special mani-pedi to rejuvenate his tired hands and feet. Bonus points if you schedule an appointment, so when he arrives, they’re already waiting for him.
9. Ask Him What He Wants
Be prepared for lots of interesting responses when you ask your WAPA man what he wants for Valentine’s Day! If you are willing and able to grant his every wish, then go for it. Asking him what he wants doesn’t take away the surprise element of the day, it will actually enhance it. Doing something you know he’ll enjoy, or giving him something he’ll love having, will absolutely make his day…and his night.
